체육학과 — 스포츠의 미래를 선도하다
오늘날 체육은 더 이상 운동장 안에만 머물지 않습니다. 건강운동과 여가산업, AI 헬스케어와 데이터 기반 훈련과학으로 그 경계를 넓히며, 사람의 삶을 설계하는 학문으로 성장하고 있습니다. 우리 학과는 이 변화의 한가운데에서 학생 한 사람 한 사람의 성장과 도전을 뒷받침하고 있습니다. 교내에는 수영장, 골프장, 종합체육관, 운동처방실, AI 피트니스센터 등 최신 교육·실습 시설이 갖추어져 있고, 해양과 설상·빙상 현장 또한 가까운 거리에 있어 학기 중에도 어렵지 않게 현장으로 나설 수 있습니다. 학과는 이 이점을 살려 해양스포츠와 동계스포츠 교육을 함께 운영하며, 학생들은 강의실에서 배운 이론을 곧바로 현장에서 검증하고 몸으로 익힌 경험을 다시 과학의 언어로 설명하는 훈련을 반복합니다.
스포츠의학과 여가·경영 분야의 마이크로디그리 과정을 통해 학생들은 자신의 진로에 맞는 전문역량을 심화합니다. 졸업생들은 대학과 학교의 교육자, 연구기관의 연구자로, 엘리트 스포츠와 생활체육 현장의 지도자로, 또 스포츠센터를 창업한 경영자로 활동하고 있습니다. 국민건강보험공단과 보건소에서 국민 건강을 돌보고, 소방관과 해양경찰로서 안전을 책임지는 공직의 길로 나아간 동문들도 있습니다. 강원대학교는 글로컬대학30에 선정된 대학입니다. 우리 학과는 이 도약의 흐름 위에서 교육과 연구, 지역사회와의 협력을 하나로 잇고, 여기서 쌓은 전문성이 세계 무대의 경쟁력으로 이어지도록 끊임없이 발전해 나가겠습니다.

Department of Physical Education — Leading the Future of Sport
Welcome to the Department of Physical Education at Kangwon National University.
Physical education today reaches far beyond the playing field. It now extends into health and exercise, the leisure industry, AI-driven healthcare, and data-informed training science — a discipline concerned with how people live, not simply how they move. Our department stands at the center of this change, supporting the growth and ambition of every student who joins us. Our campus is equipped with a swimming pool, golf facilities, a comprehensive gymnasium, an exercise prescription laboratory, and an AI fitness center. Coastal waters and snow and ice venues lie close at hand, so fieldwork is a regular part of the semester rather than a rare excursion. Building on this advantage, the department teaches marine and winter sports side by side. Students test in the field what they have learned in the classroom, then return to explain their physical experience in the language of science.
Through micro-degree tracks in sports medicine and in leisure and management, students deepen the expertise their chosen path requires. Our graduates serve as educators in universities and schools, as researchers in academic institutes, as coaches in elite and community sport, and as founders of their own fitness enterprises. Others have entered public service — with the National Health Insurance Service and public health centers, and as firefighters and coast guard officers. Kangwon National University has been selected for Korea’s Glocal University 30 initiative. Within this momentum, our department connects education, research, and regional partnership into a single effort, so that the expertise our students build here becomes their strength on the global stage.
